Belief-O-Matic

Just to give you all a sense of how I scored on the Belief-O-Matic quiz. I've taken this quiz a while back and thought I'd like to take it again. Maybe you readers can take it and post your results here in the comments.

It's funny, the quiz comes with a disclaimer, I was crackin' up:
"Warning: Belief-O-Matic™ assumes no legal liability for the ultimate fate of your soul."

LOL.

  1. I've taken this test before, and some of the questions still stick out as "tricky", which leads to sticky results (as I'll demonstrate later on).

    #11, for instance
Doing good works (deeds) and acting compassionately is: Necessary/Not necessary/Not Applicable. is bad question. Necessary for what? Salvation? Spirituality? I try to do good because it's the right to do (that pesky Golden Rule). Is that spiritual? I don't think so. I think that this question is more for the Catholic/Protestant split, but how should I answer? See, tricky...

#12, meanwhile, has no "atheist" answers. I see Jewish, Christian, Budhist, Hindu, etc. The last option Humankind is "saved" through human effort rather than through religious or spiritual means is meant as the "atheist" answer, I think, but it uses "saved" in a different way than I'd use it ("improved", "made better" would be better terms to use, IMO).

    So, I'm:
    1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
    2. Secular Humanism (97%)
    3. Theravada Buddhism (91%)
    4. Liberal Quakers (84%)
    5. Neo-Pagan (82%)

The results are skewed because I tend to pick the Buddhist choices (where they don't rely on the supernatural), and UU showed up first because it's the religion that can't make up its mind. All I remember about them is that they never mention god or gods or whatever and they like candles, for some reason. #3 is odd because I'm only Buddhist in the vaguest sense (The four level of enlightenment is riddled with bafflegab, for one thing). #4 is odd because, for the violence/pacifism/not applicable, I picked violence, because pacifism is nice until somebody has a knife to your kid's throat and "not applicable" is no choice at all. I must admit, however, that I do like a good barn raisin'.

And WTF is a neo-pagan, anyway? As far as I know, Neo-pagans are homeopathy-lovin', anti-modernity (with the attendant "rose-coloured" glasses view of how things used to be), anti-science (because it has the audacity to call quack medicine, "quack medicine"), "crystal power" oddities of the highest order. I'm weird, but I'm not that kind of weird.

  3. Have always refused to do such silly tests. Labels are not important. How about non-religionist?

  6. I thought it would just be something fun to do. I don't particularly put much stock in it myself. I just wanted to post something a bit less polarizing. To take a breather so to speak.

  7. I'll agree with modusoperandi, that some of the choices of answers to the questions are less than desireable.

  8. I have never seen the results of a religious person's results. Cool.

  9. I've taken this test four times and I still don't like it. Like ModusOperandi, I take issue with the fact that the test seems focused on "salvation." Well, not all religions believe in salvation (or even enlightenment, for that matter).

  10. Maybe I can find another quiz and extrapolate the results.
